KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Human risk is about more than training results or phishing awareness alone.
  • usecure’s Human Risk Intelligence combines four key risk signals: target value, awareness, hygiene and access.
  • Looking at these signals together reveals “toxic combinations” that can indicate greater exposure than any single risk factor.

One user. On paper, they've passed every training course you've assigned them.

But they've also got admin access they don't need, weak password hygiene, and they sit high enough in the org chart to be worth targeting.

Stack those four things together, and you've got a very different kind of risk than any single flag would show you, and that's exactly what usecure just built an entirely new product category to solve.

It's the subject of Episode 8 of The usecure Show.

The Vision: Why usecure Built Human Risk Intelligence

Charles Preston, usecure's founder and CEO, opens the episode explaining why now.

usecure started ten years ago as a security awareness training and simulated phishing company, and for the last four or five years that's meant selling human risk management. But with AI making it harder to tell what's real, and partner data scattered across multiple systems, that model isn't enough on its own anymore.

usecure now combines its own platform data (everything you already know about your users) with risk signals from tools like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. The result is a single, connected view of risk, and it changes the conversation partners have with their clients. Instead of selling a service, they're selling intelligence.

What Is Human Risk Intelligence?

Kris Zentek, usecure's Chief Product Officer and the person behind uHealth, breaks down what actually makes a user risky, and it's more than whether they can pass a course or spot a phishing test.

uHealth is built around four pillars:

  • Target value - how attractive a person is to attack, based on seniority and the sensitivity of what they can access
  • Awareness - how well they spot and respond to real threats
  • Hygiene - day-to-day security habits, from password reuse to MFA
  • Access - what systems and data they can actually reach

On their own, each pillar tells you something. Together, they tell you a lot more. usecure calls this stacking effect a "toxic combination", and it's what turns a routine risk factor into a genuine exposure worth acting on.

How to Sell Human Risk Intelligence to Your Clients

Molly McManamon, Head of Sales Development, isn't showing you how to demo the product. She's showing you how it sells itself.

The dashboard is the first win. Reports that used to mean pulling huge datasets by hand now take minutes, and that's a tool you can use to bring clients on board because it demonstrates results they can't argue with.

The second is toxic combinations. Most clients are turning a blind eye to their risk until you show them where it's building, especially around individuals with real authority. That's the moment a gap in security understanding turns into urgency, and urgency is what sells the next stage of your security offering.
