Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, security bodies across the world are calling for organisations to bolster their online defences during a heightened cyber threat environment.

While governmental organisations such as the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and The White House are not yet aware of any specific threats in relation to events in and around Ukraine, there is now evolving intelligence that Russia may be exploring options for potential cyberattacks.

There has been a historical pattern of cyber attacks against Ukraine which have had the potential to impact organisations outside of Ukraine, such as HermeticWiper — a wiper malware used against Ukrainian organisations that erases data from the hard drive of an infected computer.

Businesses are therefore being strongly encouraged to follow actionable steps.
